Lying is something most people feel they can, and frequently do, find justification for. Sam Harris takes us through several scenarios to show just why it is better to tell the truth, or at least not lie. It is well written, as is usual, and expected, for Sam Harris. The book is one that will make you think critically about your own behavior and attitude toward lying, and hopefully will challenge you as well.
My only complaint is that this book doesn’t have much science in it. I would have liked to see it augmented with some scientific findings about lying, such as how and why our brains use it, possible evolutionary reasons for it, etc.
